This 6-week class builds upon the foundational skills learned in Wheel 101, guiding our students through vessel anatomy, handle design,
advanced shaping, and glazing techniques — all with a focus on creative exploration and refinement.
Whether you’re aiming to create more complex pieces or just want to gain confidence at the wheel, this class will help you expand your pottery knowledge.
Throwing with Intenetion is open to students who have successfully completed Wheel 101 and have advanced beyond learning the basics.
What You’ll Learn:
Mug and bowl anatomy: rim, neck, shoulder, foot, and base
Shaping and refining taller forms
Pulling and attaching ergonomic handles, creating altered forms.
Surface decoration: sgraffito, slip trailing, and underglazing
Glazing for both form and function
Group critique and final review of work
Class Format:
6 weeks of instruction
2.5-hour class sessions, once per week
+ 8 hours/week of Open Studio (optional but encouraged)
Total: 15 hours instruction + 48 hours studio time
Class Size: Limited to 12 students
Cost includes all materials including unlimited clay, tools, glazes, kiln firings, and apron
