Pottery isn’t just about shaping clay —
it’s a deeply therapeutic practice that nurtures mental, emotional and physical well being.
About Us
Welcome to The Pottery Studio by Magpie Ceramics — a locally owned, woman-led creative space nestled in the heart of Bluffton, South Carolina. We’re more than just a place to learn pottery — we’re a vibrant, supportive community where people of all backgrounds come together to create, connect, and grow.
Meet Maggie
Maggie is the heart and hands behind The Pottery Studio by Magpie Ceramics. A lifelong creative with a love for working with her hands, she first discovered pottery as a way to slow down, be present, and explore the beauty in imperfection. What began as a personal passion quickly turned into a calling — to share the joy, challenge, and meditative nature of clay with others.
Her nickname, “Magpie”, comes from her grandmother. Both share the love of collecting inspiration from the world around them, bringing people together and sharing the stories that inspire human connection.
Meet Juliana
Juliana is a ceramic artist, painter, and yoga instructor whose relaxed, mindful approach brings a calming energy to the studio. Her gentle reminders about posture and presence during wheel-throwing sessions help students stay comfortable, focused, and confident as they create.
Meet Claire
Clair is a local potter thrilled to be teaching pottery again. With a background in product development, and her own artistic flair, she loves designing beautiful, functional pieces that blend creativity and purpose. She’s passionate about helping others discover the joy of clay and believes that we’re all lifelong learners.

She is a Certified Aromatherapist who celebrates the harmony of functional art and holistic well being.
Our Mission & Philosophy
We believe pottery is more than just making bowls, mugs, and vases — it’s about connection.
Connection to the earth through natural materials.
Connection to the process by shaping something with your own hands.
Connection to each other by learning, laughing, and creating side by side.
We are committed to offering guided instruction with a personal touch. Whether you’re brand new to clay or returning to the wheel after years away, our classes are designed to meet you where you are at — providing structure, support, and an incredible space to explore your creativity.
Here, you’re not just making pottery — you’re building confidence, friendships, and art that reflects your unique voice.
